Beer of the week (May 24th)
This week I tried my first (American) Barley Wine.
Sierra Nevada, one of my American favorite brewers (Pale Ale and Celebration Ale) makes one of the most well liked examples of the style; Bigfoot. I was looking forward to it but was slightly disappointed. This beer suffers from the west coast mentality of more hops = more gooder. The headcrushing alcohol by volume (9.6%) smacks you across the palate. The latter two attributes make it tough to drink a lot of and I probably won't be revisiting this beer but it is interesting.

Joey, Don't bother going to see the DaVinci Code; YOUR movie is coming out on 8/25, and it is called "Beerfest". The movie is about two American guys who take their grandfather's ashes to Munich to scatter at the Oktoberfest. The boys' evil German cousins invite them to participate in Beerfest- a "super-secret, centuries old, underground beer games competition"- and proceed to humiliate the Americans. What is a red-blooded, American guy to do? Go back to the US, get a team together, and train for the next games[theme from 'Rocky' plays]. Sounds like a must-watch to me. Love
Must see is right! Too bad they don't have a trailer out yet
