HDTV comes to our house

Well, today we bit the bullet, grabbed the bull by the horns, and various other cliches with the end result: We are now the (very!) proud owners of a Sony Bravia XBR 40" Full HD LCD. I will post pictures later, but for now I will just say we were blown away. In fact, the picture is considerably better than it was in the store.

I think that is because 1) we are using HDMI instead of Component Video, and B) we are not splitting a signal among 80 TVs. They gave us a demo of what 1080p will look like and it was beyond stunning though I would like to see it compared to what we have now. In any event, whenever it arrives we will be ready!

Discovery HD has a few cool shows, the oddest one may be "Sunrise Earth" which airs daily at 7. This reminds me a little like the scenery channel in Back to the Future 2. The crews follow sun up around the globe. HD Net features a series on European getaways, however, it seems like they are mostly getting away to France and Italy.

The Bucs game looked great even if they did not.

If Tia and I ever decide to become technological junkies, you guys are going to be our new role models! We'll come over and have a look at Christmas time.

In the meantime, we feel like we have all the media we need, what with PBS AND radio XM (which we both really enjoy).

Btw, PBS is in HD in Tampa, so I have been enjoying Rick Steve's Europe adn Rudy Maxa's Smart Travels (does NPR keep Savvy Traveler trademarked?) in crystal clear clarity. Tonight they did a special on Bruges and Brussels.
